As we begin our Church wide fast, we are praying for a revival. We want to SEEK Him, not that He is lost, but we are lost without HIM. Psalms 63:1 reads, "O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirst for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." It is our expectation that we will be in unity as we seek Him. Each day, Monday through Friday, there will be a daily POST on our website. We pray that as a Church family we will commit to Praying, Reading the Word, and Listening to the Revive Our Hearts podcast. Click the daily links below. Dear Beloved Shining Star, As we stand at the threshold of a new year, my heart is filled with immense gratitude and hope. The past year has been a journey of faith, resilience, and love. We have faced challenges, celebrated triumphs, cried tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Through it all God's desire was that we grown stronger together as a community in Christ. The arrival of a new year offers us the chance to reflect on our experiences and renew our commitment to our faith and each other. Let us take this time to remember the blessings we have received and extend our gratitude to God for His unwavering presence in our lives. In the coming year, may we continue to support one another with kindness and compassion, reaching out to those in need with open hearts and hands. Let us strive to deepen our spiritual journeys, drawing closer to God through prayer, worship, and service. As we embark on this new chapter, I encourage each of you to set your sights on the possibilities that lie ahead. Together, let us embrace the opportunities for growth and transformation, trusting in God's plan for us. The Apostle Paul writes to us in Philippians 3: 13-14 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." May the Lord grant us the ability to be like minded as we move forward. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, and may He grant you peace throughout the year. With love and blessings, Your servant in the Lord Pastor
- STATEMENT OF FAITH | ssbc-ministries
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as plenary, verbally inspired by God and is infallible and inerrant in the original writings. We further believe the Scriptures were written by men divinely inspired and embraces all matters which the biblical authors address. We believe that the Scriptures are the supreme and final authority by which all human conduct, greed’s and opinions shall be tried. We believe that there is one and only one true and living God and that He is eternally existent, the creator of the heavens and the earth, and all contained therein. We believe God to be the ruler of the universe, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, existing as three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, one in nature, attributes, power and glory. Equal in every divine perfection. We further believe that God the Father is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. God saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Word of God who became flesh and that He has precisely the same nature, attributes and perfection as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. He was born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Ghost and that He was and is both true God and true man. We also believe that He was sinless in nature and that He voluntarily gave His life as a substitute for sin. He died vicariously on the cross for all sin. We further believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His position of power on the right hand of the Father on high and His high priestly intercession on behalf of those who trust in Him for salvation. We also believe in His personal and visible return to earth to set up His kingdom. We believe in the literal six day account of creation as recorded in the Scriptures and that the creation of man lies in the special, immediate, and formative acts of God and not from some previously existing life form. We believe that man was creation in holiness under the law of his maker. That he was created in the image and likeness of God and was therefore sinless but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy and happy state thereby incurring upon himself the sentence of death both spiritual and physical according to the Scriptures. We further believe that all of mankind is born with a sinful nature inherited from our father Adam and that we are sinners in thought, word and deed. We believe that the salvation of man is wholly of grace through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, body, soul and spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. We believe that He rose from the dead for our justification on the grounds of His shed blood and that people are saved by grace through faith alone, wholly apart from any human merit and works. We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He rose bodily after three days according to the Scriptures. We believe that a man is born again by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ upon hearing the word of God and thereby becomes a child of God forever and is eternally secure. Moreover we believe that the Holy Scriptures teach that the moment a person receives Christ as His savior, immediately the Holy Spirit indwells him and he is sealed until the day of redemption. We believe that God the Holy Spirit was active in creation and that He convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. We also believe that the Holy Spirit is the active agent in the new birth; that He baptizes all believers into the body of Christ at conversion; that He indwells, seals, endows, guides, convicts and teaches those who believe. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. That He is equal with God the Father and God the Son. We believe the Holy Spirit sanctifies and helps the believer. We believe in the Blessed Hope and the rapture of the church when the Lord shall descend from heaven to catch up his bride the church to meet Him in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. We believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of the crucified Lord, His ascension into heaven, His present life there as our high priest and advocate, and His personal, bodily, visible return to earth to establish His millennial kingdom on earth, and to reign as Lord of Lords and Kings of Kings. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead; the saved at the first resurrection to a life of eternal glory and complete happiness. The unsaved at the second resurrection to eternal judgment and punishment in the lake of fire where suffering and pain shall never end. We believe that according to the Scriptures that all who have trusted Christ for salvation and received Him as their personal Lord and Savior are called to live a life of holiness. That our life should be distinct and we are called to separate ourselves from the practices and influences of this world which hinder a person from living a spirit filled life. We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to be a personal soul winner and to aid in taking the Gospel of Christ to the whole world. We believe that the local church is an organized congregation of immersed baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the two scriptural ordinances of the church. We believe that the only scriptural offices of the church are elders and deacons meeting the qualifications outlined in the Scriptures. They are to exercise the gifts, rights, privileges, and responsibilities given them by His word and the church which is the body of Christ.

- BIO 2 | ssbc-ministries
Heading I was raised in my family church Swan Creek United Methodist Church, Aberdeen, MD, where I remained until the age of sixteen. I learned of God's love for man and I was taught to be good, but never understood the Gospel. After understanding that Jesus Christ, being God in the flesh, died on the cross for all of my sins, was buried and was raised on the third day, I received Him as my personal Savior. After my conversion I joined and regularly attended Shining Star Baptist Church, where I was nurtured in the Word of God. I learned under the solid biblical teachings of my Pastor James Johnson. I was also encouraged to listen to radio ministers such as Tony Evans, Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindol, Vernon McGee, and John McArthur. I also began to attend Baltimore School of the Bible in an effort to learn more of the bible; I had a hunger to know the truth. My relationship with Jesus began to take shape as I spent a lot of time in prayer and reading the bible. I began working with the youth in the church and community, teaching them the Word of God and many gave their lives to Jesus Christ. I began to feel a burden to share God's Word with everyone I met. I began writing messages that resulted from my personal study of the Word of God. I talked to my pastor about my desire to preach the Word of God and to my surprise he was not as excited as I was. He continued to observe my walk before the Lord and after a few years had gone by, he decided to license me to preach the Gospel. Ironically my first sermon was delivered in the church of my youth, Swan Creek United Methodist Church. My first sermon topic was "I Must Be About My Father's Business".
